The World Capital Institute and the Communications and Information College of the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras are pleased to open a Call for Papers for the Knowledge Cities World Summit (KCWS) 2022 conference that will be held on November 16-18th, 2022.
The Knowledge Cities World Summit (KCWS) is an independent and global meeting among professional practitioners, academics, civil servants, and policymakers that provides a forum of discussion on the themes of “knowledge cities” and “knowledge-based development”. These themes follow the key trademark of the World Capital Institute (WCI), which emphasize understanding and applying knowledge-based solutions as a key innovator for 21st Century development.
Topics of interest
This year’s overarching theme will be “Actionable knowledge for the Anthropocene” and how it can be leveraged to face some of the toughest challenges we encounter as a society today. As part of the WCI’s mission to build a more equitable, balanced, and viable urban and planetary future, the event will highlight different perspectives on how to achieve these goals. Below we highlight the Summit’s specific daily themes and potential subtopics. Each theme addresses a pressing issue that permeates throughout global societal structures. KCWS 2022 will bring together scholars and practitioners and policymakers from multiple different disciplines and world regions actively working on these topics. The discussions will transcend theoretical proposals to put forth innovative frameworks, tools, practices, and technologies being applied across the globe to mitigate and to adapt communities, companies, and policies in response to these issues:
Climate and planetary emergencies | Islands turning towards knowledge ventures beyond the tourism economy | Post-truth society and the dissolution of the social fabric |
